Day 1: Evaluation Basics
Introduction: 20 minutes
BASE Skills Progression: Lecture, 30 minutes
Site Evaluation: Lecture and discussion, 30 minutes
Considerations for Illegal Jumps: Lecture, 30 minutes
Height estimation: Lecture, 1 hour
Comparison and practice use of sight evaluation tools ranging from primitive rock drop laser range finders.
On Site Evaluation: 3 hours
Drive to site, evaluate altitude, exit point and landing area, instructor led
Jump Planning: 1 hour
Plan jump of site, instructor led
Landing Area Evaluation: Lecture, 45 minutes
Day 2: Instructor Guided Evaluation
Landing area mock up and practice jumps: 4 hours
Mock up landing area and practice landing accuracy and approach at Perrine Bridge
Jump: 1.5 hours
Execute jump plan and perform jump
Debrief and video review: 30 minutes
High Angle Access: Lecture, 60 minutes
Discussion and demonstration of basic climbing anchor, rappel and ascension techniques
High Angle Access: Practice, 3 hours
Hands on practice of climbing anchor, rappel and ascension techniques
Access Techniques: Discussion and theory, 2 hours
Day 3: Student Led Evaluation
Identifying BASE Sites: Lecture, 90 minutes
On Site Evaluation: 3 hours
Drive to site, evaluate altitude, exit point and landing area, with instructor guidance
Jump Planning: Discussion, 1 hour
Plan jump of site, with instructor guidance
Jump: 1.5 hours
Execute jump plan and jump site
Debrief and video review: 30 minutes
Site location: Exercise, 60 minutes
On Site Evaluation: 3 hours
Drive to site, evaluate altitude, exit point and landing area, student led
Jump Planning: 1 hour
Plan jump of site, student led
Jump: 1.5 hours
Execute jump plan and jump site

Day 4: Student Solo Evaluation
On Site Evaluation: 3 hours
Drive to sites, evaluate altitude, exit point and landing area, student led
Jump Planning: 3 hours
Plan jump of multiple sites, student led
Jumps: 8-12 hours
Execute jump plans and attempt to jump all four objects
Debrief and video review: 60 minutes
The group will continue evaluating and jumping additional objects as time allows. The selection of objects for this course will vary depending on weather conditions and daylight hours. Some practice jumps may be made from the Perrine bridge, depending on site evaluations.
