Traditional FJC

This is the Snake River BASE Academy version of the traditional first jump course offered by many gear manufacturers. However, our version of the course includes an extra day of instruction (4 full days), as well as training in slider up packing and jumps (which have historically not been part of FJC's).

The course focuses on fundamental BASE skills, with an additional emphasis on the history and ethics of BASE, and the teamwork necessary to many BASE jumps.

This course is limited to a maximum of 5 students. With 3 or fewer students, one instructor will teach the course. With 4 or 5 students, the course will have two instructors.

This course includes four days of instruction and jumping. Course cost includes packing video, packing tools, course reader, log book and t-shirt.

Death Camp

The Snake River BASE Academy's Death Camp is the most comprehensive introduction to BASE available today. The course will focus on fundamental BASE skills, with an additional emphasis on the history and ethics of BASE, and the teamwork necessary to many BASE jumps. In addition to standard First Jump training, the course will cover appropriate brake settings, advanced packing techniques, object avoidance techniques, object evaluation, and landing skills. Time and jumper aptitude permitting, we will also cover unpacked jumps, particularly as used for emergency situations, and multi-way jumps.

Death camp is offered twice each year, finishing at Memorial Day (the last full week of May) and Labor Day (the first week of September). Death Camp is free, and admission is highly competitive. Typically, we receive approximately 30 applications for 5 places. Admission is offered based on evaluation of student applications, reference checks, student preparation and class composition.

Course is limited to a maximum of 5 students and 2 auditors. Auditors should be people who cannot jump during the course, or do not have sufficient experience to be accepted as students.

This course includes seven days of instruction and jumping. Course includes packing video, packing tools, course reader, log book and t-shirt.

Bridge Day FJC

The Bridge Day FJC is taught at Bridge Day, during the 3rd week of October, in Fayetteville, West Virginia. The Bridge Day FJC is intended as a more comprehensive introduction to BASE than the standard "Bridge Day Survival" style courses traditionally offered at Bridge Day. In addition to the basic skills needed for a successful Bridge Day experience, such as packing, exits and canopy flight, this course covers BASE history, ethics and culture, as well as malfunction and object avoidance theory. In order to attend this course, students must be registered for Bridge Day (registration is conducted separately).

This course includes three and a half days of instruction and jumping supervision. Course cost includes packing video, packing tools, course reader, log book and t-shirt.

Upon successful completion of this course, all students will receive a discount coupon good for $100 off the price of any other course. This is intended to encourage students to pursue a more complete training program at a later date.
